MELBOURNE, sbh July. In the House of' Representatives, the Federal Treasurer, in the course of his Financial Statement, said the expenditure for 1921r22 totalled £65,118,265, and the receipts were £64,913,085, leaving a deficit of £205,180. The estimated surplus for 1920-21 was £6,618,327. At the close of this financial year it was found that practically the whole of that eurplus remained in the Treasury^; therefore, the accumulated surplus was now #6,413,147. : _ Mr. Chariton intends to mo>e a motion, of censure on the Government in the form of an. amendment to the Ad-drese-in-Reply, urging more liberal old" age and invalid pensions.
