IDLE COLLIERIES
STRIKERS TO BE PROSECUTED
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COI-SIOW.)
SYDNEY, 3rd July. About forty- summonses have been issued against employees of the Abed-main No. 2 colliery for being concerned in the stoppage of the colliery without reasonable cause: The employees of Abermain No. 1 colliery, who ceased work in sympathy, are also to be prosecuted. ■ Over a thousand summonses are being issued. The trouble arose in connection with a proposal to absorb the employees 'of Seaham No. 2 colliery, now closed down, which is owned by the Abermain Collieries Limited, the management refusing to be bound by a ballot taken at Seaham to decide the names and order in which the men should be employed, and re-' serving the right to select its own employees. A.mass meeting Of miners decided to return to work to-day, but fears are entertained, that the prosecutions will. lead to further trouble.
