The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Ist July, from the High Commissioner for New Zealaud, London:— ■ ' Mutton.—Slow demand and prices have declined owing to plentiful supplies New Zealand and Australian being offered at lower prices. Demand for lamb not quite so good and market steady to shade, easier. Fair inquiry for New Zealand beef, small supplies fresh available. Chilled in large supply'af lower ' prices. Prices Ist July are as follow:— New Zealand Mutton.—Lightweight, 6£d to 7d; medium, 6_d to 6_d; heavyweight, s£d to'sJd; ewes,'4£d to sd. Australian and Patagonian Mutton.— Lightweight,' 6Jd; heavyweight, 4|d to sd. New Zealand Lamb.—Best quality, Hid to ll_d; lightweight, lOid to'lM; ordinary, 10|d; second-c__B quaßtjr, 10id.
