LODGE MEETINGS
The attendances at the weekly meetings of Anzao Lodge No. 25,' 1.0. G.T.; continue to be well niaiiitained, as was evidenced at ite meeting held in the Kechabite Chambers, Ghu_nee-street, on Saturday evening last. Bro. J. Warren C.T., presided. Sister lodges were also represented. The programme for the evening was in the hands of Sister G. Symington, Chap. The following were the contributors :—Misses E. Baker, D. Larwood, E. Tippett, T. M'Alpine, and Charles. Bro. P. Dorrian and Sister Bett, G.V.T. Supper was provided by the Harmony Committee.. Votes of thanks were passed to the 'sister in charge of tlie evening, the contributors, and,.those in charge of social, arrangements. ■. Next week being an off night, the officers and members of the Harmony Committee are to meet to make all necessary arrangements for the anniversary meeting to be held the following week. .
Cleveland Lodge, No. 13.T.0.0.F., held its fortnightly meeting in Waldie's Hall, Brooklyn, recently, Bro. H. A. Watson, N.G. presiding. There was a large attendance. Official visits were received from the officers of Southern Cross, No. 24, and Zealandia, No. 48 Lodges, and members. One member was reported sick, and a relative sick draft was passed. The election of officers for nest term took place. Preliminary, arrangements were made for an open social evening, to be held on the last meeting night in July. Members of the Order and ' friends were entertained by Zealandia Lodge, No: 48, in St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, last Thursday evening. There was a very large attendance, and a most enjoyable time was spent with dances, games, and competitions. Bros Tahiwi and Wallace were the pianists. Recitations were contributed by Sister Gordon and Bro. Jones, and songs by Miss E. Asher. The competitions resulted as follow:—Peas in bottle, Sister Mailey _and Bro. Dawkins; parcel, Miss E. Christeson. The prizes were presented by P.G.M. Bro. A. 11. Valontine, of Dunedin, who is en route to open an Encampment (higher degree) Lodge, at Auckland; Copies of annual report, etc., for 1921, have arrived from Grand Lodge office, Dunedin. Some half-dozen tiow lodges were instituted during the year and several others rejuvenated. The Order had in the Dominion a male membership at 31st December, of 9019, and a Eebekah membership of 1044, representing gains of 1144 and 477. The Order in New Zealand is the_ second largest jurisdiction in Australasia, and its assets, in spite of the heavy drain on "them. from the Groat War, show an increase of £6692 for tho year, making a total of £153,106. ' The Grand Secretary,, Bro. W. Reid, has resigned owing to ill-health, after holding office for 45 years, and,tho following excerpts from his final report read: —"l have hold office for 45 years, and that I have had tho confidence of the Order is evidenced by my election without opposition _at every Grand Lodge, session. When I took office in 1877, tho society was a very humble institution/comprising 17 lodges, mostly in Canterbury and Ofcago, 513 members, Grand Lodge funds £1147, subordinate lodge funds £2359. Our lodges, including Rebekahs, now number 120, our members 10,063, and our assets £153,000 odd. Our records show that we lead the van in regard to friendly societies' reforms, and many of our improved methods havo been copied by other sooieties."
