JUNE WEATHER
A COLD MONTH,
As most peopla ;will bo Trilling to concede, June has been a cold month .land on twenty days out of the thirty tie mean has been below the average. This, in spite of the fair amount of sunshine (which made the days warm and the ■nights cold. ■ There were eleven frosts iduring the month, and the minimum leading on the grass was: 19.5 deg. The minimum temperature of the air 3 feet above the ground on the 22nd June showed 31, degrees, or.l deg. of frost, which, is a most .unusual thing.in Wellington.' On the 22nd the temperature was again 31 degreee. The barometer that morning stood at 20.601 in. •which was the maximum for the month. Tho minimum occurred a week later, ■when it was 29.6Min. The mean temperature of the month was 47.8 degrees. During June, the mean velocity of- the ■wind was 241 miles per day, which was only six miles a day above the average. ■On'one day the instrument only regis-. tered 15 miles, but the maximum, 583 miles, was registered on the 18th. ' Tho rainfall was below the average owing to the prevalence of anti-cyclonic conditions and drizzling falls. The total was 3.32 in. and the maximum, 1.08 in., occurred on 2nd June.
Sunshine was' slightly above the average for the month in previous years, but the, earth' temperatures were lower. ■There were five days without the minimiitm amount of sunshine (4 minutes). ,
