A BIG "SING"

HUGE TOWN HALL GATHERING.

The Town Hall was packed to the doors last night, the occasion being the holding of the first evening community sing. It was a rea) triumph, and the big audience entered into the proceedings with much spirit. Mr. C-. E. .Webb was the song leader iov the first part of the programme, successive turns in the role of choir master being taken by Messrs./ W. Howard Foster, O. E. Boyden, Albert Russell, and H. Temple , White. Tho accompanists were Misses Dorothy Mills and Cladvs Watkins, and Mrs. Albert Russell. Mrs. PhillipsTurner, who has been organisms; collections for the blind, had the satisfaction of knowing that last night's magnificent effort realised the sum of £56 18s.

.; In spite of the bad weather, the Paramount Theatre was well filled yesterday, and the audience seemed to enjoy the proceedings thoroughly, Mr. F. Townsend, President of the Court-euay-place Area Association, in a short speech, welcomed the visitors. The sing was conducted by My. A. Sauuders, who was ably supported by Mr. Frank Crowther and Mr. Andrew Williams. The second sing will take place next Thursday at 12.15 p.m.
