RETURNED SOLDIERS
DOMINION COUNCIL MEETING
CONSTITUTION SHOULD STAND.
The annual general meeting of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand •Returned Soldiers' Association was continued this afternoon at the Accountants' Chambers, the president (Sir A. H. Bussell) in the chair. ' ' ! The Organisation and Constitution Committee brought up a, report on a number of remits referred t<> it. Thecommittee recommended that certain remits be struck out. "Your committee feels," continued the report, "that the reasons for its action are self-evident. In its opinion (unanimously agreed upon) it is highly desirable that the constitution, which has been subjected to radical alteration year by year since the inception of the association, is now in such a form that it should be left as it stands, so as to ensure the smooth working of the association. The alterations proposed were all of a minor nature, and in many cases (in the opinion of your committee) would not have been well received by a large section of the council." The committee also recommended:— (1) "That the council reaffirms the desirability of continuing tho district scheme of organisation as at present provided for in the rules. (2) That no alterations whatsoever be made in the constitution this year." The committee reported that it could not make ay recommendation retpirding affiliation with, the British Empire Service League. Mir. T. W. LMTDonald (Otago) moved', a.s an amendment, that the report be referred to the Legal Committee. The amendment was seconded by Mr. J. D. Forbes (Otago).
