THE WORLD'S LARGEST LIFEBOAT.
Arrangements have 'been made in Great Britain for building a.new type of ;mo£oi- lifeboat which will be the largest of any yet known. Its length .will be 60 feet and its beam 15 feet and ite normal draught Cft 6in. It will be a 60 ton vessel propelled by twin screws, driven by two 75rnorse-power'oil en"ines, at a speed from 9to .10 knots. It will be able to cruise for 100 miles without replenishing supplies. Two passenger cabins are provided, one at the* bow and one at the stern, gifting a total passenger carrying capacity of 150 people. Appliances are provided for supplying warmth and hot food, and for rendering first aid to.the injured. An interesting feature of the equipment is the provision of a ■searchlight and life-saving net in addition to p gun f Ol . throwing a line over a vessel in distress.
