After being listed for over three years, the hearing was commenced in the Federal High Court' on Monday, before Mr. Justice Isaacs, of the cas« in which, the Federal Government and the Central Wool Committee makes a claim against th© Colonial, Combing, Spinning, and Weaving Company, Ltd. The plaintiffs' claim is for the sum of £282,808, for the alleged breach, of agreement made on Ist March, 1917, regarding the sale of wool tops. Amongst other things, they ask for a declaration that alt wool purchased, and all wool and wool tops, etc., manufactured by the defendants after the Ist September, 1918, were the property of the Commonwealth, and were, manufactured by the company as the agents for the Commonwealth. There is a. cvos3-action, involving about £1,000,000, in which the defendants allege that'the Commonwealth Government committed breaches of the agreement by wrongfully refusing to give its consent to any further sales,of wool tops under the terms of the agreement, except upon conditions sought to be imposed for the purpose of giving the Government a larger share of the profits oi the company's business than it wonlJ have been entitled to receive under the- terms of the agreement.
