LOCAL BODY ECONOMY
The following recommendations of an, economy committee wore adopted by the Hutt Sorongh Council last flight :— (1) That the council should consider th-e question of purchasing or otherwise ac(jun'ing a horfse-grader; (2) the council should purchase two more horses in addition to the horse required for the Recreation 'Ground; (3) that instructions be given to the men in charge of each district to enter on their daily timesheets particulars as regards the loads of motal carted daily to each, of their districts, and the number of chains of repair work carried out; (4) that tho foreman be instructed to visit all jobs under way throue-hottti the borough at frequent and- irregular intervals. The committee 1 further recommended' that it be appointed to consider the first reading of the draft estimates which the engineer had been instructed to prepare, as the committee considered thot thework done at its meeting of the 20t:i March, would greatly assist in having the estimates dealt with a« ijuiokly a* possible.
