MASTER PLUMBERS AND TECH-

NICAL COLLEGE.

A. cheque for £285 19s 6d was 1 last evening presented to the • Wellington Technical College Board of Governors by a deputation from, the Master Plumbers' Union. The cheque was a contribution to the cost of building the new Technical College. Mr. A. E. Wells (chairman of the union) said that the idea of the subscription was first mentioned to the association by a very valued member of their craft, Mr. T. BaUingerj and it was very readily taken up, as membete of the association were alive to the debt it owed to the Technical College. Co-operation between trade sections and technical classes could only be of mutual benefit, and they were- gratified to know that the I assistance the unicn was able to ,giVe was accepted o.nd appreciated. In conclusion, Mr. Wells handed the chairman | a cheque for the sum of £285 19s 6d, and in so doing expressed the hope that representatives of other crafts would do something similar. 5 Mr. W. H. Bennett (chairman of the board) said that members' were deeply grateful for the gift, and he could only wish that other bodies in the community would show a similar interest in the hew school. When they were canvassing the city for funds they met with many rebuffs. ,
