ST. PATRICK'S DAY

CONCERT AND SPORTS,

The grand Irish national concert to be Riven at the Town Hall this evening is expected to_ be one of the most successful yet held in Wellington, and to judge by the booking up to this morning, \ the attendance should at least approach tho record last year ; when many were unable to gain admission. Some of the artists who will appear this evening are—Miss Winifred .M. Fraser (soprano), Miss Teresa M'Enroe, Miss Slabelle Esquilant, Misse3 Thelma and Jean M'Kenzie, Miss Eustace and Master Eustace, Mr. G. H. Andrews (Timaru, baritone). Mr. F. H. Wood, Mr. L. Hanlon, Mr. Thomas Goodall. The Marist Brothers' Choir and Lyric Quartette, will also give items. Mr. Harold Whittle will be at the piano, and selections will be played, by M'Laughliri's augmented orchestra. As befits the occasion, the items will all have to do with Irish sons, music, story, and dance. The St. Patrick's Day sports will be held at Newtown Park to-morrow. Record entries have- been received for all events, and good contests are expected. Dancing will figure largely on the programme, the two big items to be decided being the New Zealand. chamionships in the Irish jig and Irish reel. A spectacular drill display will be given during the afternoon by a thousand children, 'there will be a baby show and a round dozen of side shows. A procession will leave Government (Buildings at 10.30 tomorrow morning. .'■ The Artillery Band a>nd the Hibernian Pipe Band will be in attendance.
