"WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
COMMITTEE.
The Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met last evening, those present being Mewe. C. G. Wilson {chairman), W. G. Hughes, P. B. Broad, P. E. Fulton, W. A. 'Baker, and F. Hewitt (hpn. secretary). Advice was received from tha New ! Zealand Cricket Council that' the proposal to play an inter-island match was being considered, and the indications were that the fixture should be revived this season. Before deciding whether the match would be play«d at Christchurch or Wellington information respscting the expense of running' the match at Wellington .should be ascertained. The question was one of finance, and it depended upon the charges mado as to -where the fixture would be played. —It was decided to furnish the information. On-account of the limited time for completing competitions it wag decided that the fixtures set down for Saturday, 25th February, could not lie postponed as suggested by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, which was arranging an athletic test with the Springboks for that date. ' Permission was obtained from the City Council to charge 6d admission to the Basin Reserve on Saturday next, forthe conclusion o( the Petone-Midlaud match. The question o! payment of £13 1& 6d additional to the City Council for securing soil from Napier' for the preparation of a wicket on the Basin Reserve was held over till nixt meeting. Complaint was made that owing to the large number of junior matches being played at NewtoTO Park, there was a great danger to players and spectators from flying balk. No fewer than nine matches had been played on a recent Saturday. It was decided to bring the matter under the notice of the City Council. The Petone Club wrote regarding the complaints about the state of the grounds af Patone. The matter was beint; referred to the Borough Council, which attended to the cutting of the grass of "the outfield, while the wickets would have more careful preparationThe club also placed the following proposals before the committee ; That the -committee make arrangements for the Borough Council to cut the grounds or to employ a man for that purpose. There was ample room, if was stated, for seven wickets, and in return for the money spent in upkeej- the committee would receive £108 (approximately) in ground fees, to which sup the club was prepared to pay £17 additional for practice wickets. Roughly the amount that would be received would pover-the expenditure. It w,is decided- to ask' the Petone Council the amount it required to keep the grounds in order. . .
