BOYS' INSTITUTE
The monthly meeting of the Executive Committee of the Boys' Institute and S. A. Rhodes Home for Boys was held la«t evening. Mr. G. A. Troup, president, occupied the chair.' The report of the director, Mr. J, W. Butler, stated that the attendance _ lit, the tepid bath had almost doubled during the. month, and that the year ended 31st January, 1921, had been a record one. Appreciative reference was made to the action of the members of the Rotary Club in prividing Christmas cheer. to several families who were in need of assistance, owing to unemployment. The Institute Boy Scouts had' delivered the Christmas goods. . ' ' It was reported that £106 17s had been received by the brass band for enrolling, and it was decided to purchase now uniforms for the band with the money. The facings of the uniforms are to be chocolate and gold, the institute colours. It was mentioned that the accommodation in the Boys' Home was taxed to the utmost. , A report of the medical welfare department, pointing out that 38 children were attending the corrective classes, wai (*- ---ceived. The work being done in this branch by Dr. Harrison Horrax, hon. physician, was favourably commented on. v was decided to co-operate with the Health Department and the Education Board m this sphere of the wprk. The treasurer'B annual statement iliowta a satisfactory financial position. The annual meeting of tho institute was fixed for the 21st March. •
