AUDITOR-GENERAL
COLONEL G. F. C. CAMPBELL
APPOINTED.
Colonel <G. F. C. Campbell, Secretary to the Treasury, has been offered and has accepted the position of Controller and Auditor-General in succession to Colonel K. J. Collins.
Colonel Campbell was born in 1858, and ontercd the Civil Service in 1874. He was Deputy Commissioner ot Taxes in 1891, ' Valuer-General in 1901, ;md afterwards he became secretary to the Treasury and Superintendent of the State Advances Department. . Recently ho represented New Zealand at the International Finance Conference at Brussels. He has taken a leading part in the Defence, movement, and has been Coast Defence /Commander for the Wellington district. In sport also he lias been a prominent figure, particularly in the government of Rugby footba.ll. While he was away in England the duties of secretary to the Treasury were undertaken by Colonel J. J. Esaon.
