''NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held at tho Star Boating Club's poatmg house this week. Mr. E. Innes ""^.^pomied ohairman of the council. mo following now club 3 were admitted to membership on the application of the Auckland Association:—Opotiki, Whakatane, and Tauranga. Application, was made by the Marlborough Association for the reinstatement as amateurs of several members of the Pioton Wairau, and Blenheim Clubs, who had lately competed for cash prizes at an athletic meeting, In accordance with the rule, /he applications were referred to a meeting of delegates to bo held in January next r On the application of the Wellington Association, authority was given for payment of a bonus of £10 to the secretary for clerical services rendered.

Advice was received from the Cantorbury Association that great interest was being displayed in connection with tho interprovincial four-oared championship. The race will, in all probability, be held on the Corsair Bay course oil a date to bo filled.

Regret was expressed that tho association's application for reduction of duty on racing boats and .oars had not boon granted, and no relief Aiyon under the now Tariff.
