PLEA FOR AN AIR MAIL
DECLARED V TO BE CHEAPER
SERVICE.
(UNITED PKBBB ASSOCIATION*.—COPYRIGHT.) (PUBLISHED IN THE TIMBB.)
(Received December 22, 9 a-.m.)
LONDON, 20th December. In regard to the Federal Government's approval of the duplication of the Pacific cable, Mr. Holt Thomas, in a letter to The Times, points out that the testablishment of an air mail, would cost millions less than the duplication of the cable, and that at least half the cable traffic would be diverted to the air mail if it was established, rendering the expansion of the cable unnecessary. He appeals to the Government to reconsider the relative costs, revenue, and other advantages.
