SPRINGBOKS SWIMMING
CARNIVAL.
Great interest is being taken in the swimming carnival, to be held in the Tepid Baths on Wednesday, 14th Sep-' tember, in honour of the Springboks. The programme is a varied one, and will include a number of comic ' items, such as a cigar and umbrella race and a greasy boom boxing contest. The star event will be the Springboks 100 yards championships, in which all the local swimming champions will compete. His Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, has intimated his intention of being present. The boys' brass band and the Institute orchestra will render a programme of music. It is expected that the attendance will be a record one, and arrangements are being made to accommodate 1000 persons. The box plan will be open at Mr. N. Perry's, Manners-street, on Monday.
