NEW PARTY'S ASPIRATIONS
SIXTY-FIVE CONTESTS DEFINITE.
The National Progressive ■ Moderate Labour Party, through' its leader (Mr. C. E. Stathani., M.P.), announced, to-day that'it had-decided definitely to contest 65 , seats at the' next General' Election in 1922., Decisions in regard to the remaining 15 seatshave been held in- abeyance • temporarily. The 65 seats for • which candidates are to"' be bffer,ed are as follow:— , . " \ y North Island.—Grey Lynn, Auckland West, Auckland East, Auckland Cen-t-raly Pamell, Roskill. Bay of Islands, Mareden, Thames, Waikato, Rotoraa, Waitomo, ' Gisborne, . Hawkes Bay,' Napier,. Waipawa, Pahiatua, Masterton, Wairarapa, Stratford,'Taranaki, Egmont,' Patea, Wanganui, Waimarino, Manawatu, Rangitikei, Otaki, Wellington Norbh, Wellington Central. Wellington' East, Wellington South, Hutt, Wellington Suburbs.
South Island.—Nelson, Motueka, Bui-, ler, Wairau,' Kaiapoi, Christchurch North, Christchurch East, Ohristchurch South, . Riccarton, EDesmere, Avon, Lyttelton, Ashburton, Timaru, TenHka, Waitaki, Oamaru, Dunedin North, Dun-, edin South, Dunedin West, ' Dunedin Central, Bruce, Clubha, Wakatipu, Mataura, Wallace, Invercargill, Awarua. Maori seats.—Northern, Southern, and Western.
Mr. Statham explained that this decision- had been - come to at the conference just concluded. Definite selections of candidates could not be announced yet, but these would b« made public in due course. Incidentally Mr. Statham mentioned that each candidate would be pledged to' support all the planks of the party, but otherwise would bo left free to exercise his own jndgment on matters coining before the House.
