SYLVIA PANKHURST RELEASED

Miss Sylvia Pankhurst was released on 20th May from Holloway Gaol, where she had served five months of the sentence of six months for writing certain articles in Workers' Dreadnought, the Communist journal of which she was editress.

A crowd of sympathisers were present at the gaol gate, and entertained -her to breakfast.

In, the course of an interview Miss Pankhurst said she had been over four months in hospital. She (protested strongly Sjraingt the food given to prisoners, saying that it was ill-cooked and utterly unsuited -to the -sedentary life led at Hoiloway. Second division prisoners were given clothes that were far too -thin,» and they were only allowed, half an hour's exercise a day.

"I don't 'know -whisther I/loyd George is aware of the way in which political prisrrncrs urn -treated," she addad. "I was not, allowed writing materials, nor was I allowed to read any literature but that contained in-the prison library. The suffragettes were allowed to read and write and to receive visitors."
