WORK WANTED
THE UNEMPLOYMENT POSITION.
"I was informed to-day that there are 400 unemployed on the books at the Government Labour Bureau, and that not a single job is offering," stated Mr. P. Fraser, ,M.P., to a representative of The Post to-day. "Nor does there seem to be any prospect of work being found for any of these men. That is the most serious aspect of the position. Many of the unemployed are youths whose ages range from 17 to 21. What is- to become of these young fellows, most of whom are at the end of their resources?
Apparently they have been engaged in sea-faring occupations, but with the coming of changed conditions they lost their occupations. They are looking in other directions for work, and they are looking in vain. To me it/ seems that the time is opportune for the authorities to place all the cards on the table so that the people of the Dominion will be able to realise the seriousness of the present state of affairs."
