SUNDAY NIGHT ORGAN RECITALS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l am extremely pleased to see that the Sunday-night organ recitals are proving a boon to > the city coffers'at last. May I make a; suggestion to. the Mayor and councillors that they provide for other items to be included on the programme, interspersed with the organ numbers —say, perhaps, two violin solos, a eong, and a | cornet solo, or something of that nature: I know from experience that concerts of the same kind were held in Durban, Natal;, fifteen years ago by the Corporation; in summer and winter, and they were a great success. The'proceeds covered the salaries of the organist and attendants, 'as well as other expenses, and at the end of the year there was a credit balance of over £500. And. the population was not so large as that of Wellington! Sir, you will gather from _my letter 1 what is meant, and I may say that those are facts, and not imagination. Wake'up, Wellington ! We a.re goin# ahead, but keep up with the times. Saku bona sonte (good luck to you all).—I am, etc., PROGRESS, i _ lath July. •■, $
