DRIVERS AND STABLE ATTENDANTS.

The Wellington district motor-car. 'horse-drivers', and stable attendants' -1 award was filed last week. It does not apply to the Wanganui, Rangitikei, Hastings, and Napier districts. Hours of work arc fixed at 48 a week, exclusive of time required for necessary attendance on horses and motor-vehicles. Overtime is to be paid for work done, over 9 hours in one day, and attendance: work, and for work done before 7 a.m., and after 7 ;p.m., on week days; and; after 12.30 p.m. on the clay of the week-, ly half-holiday. Drivers employed by aerated water mid cordial makers are to-'! ■work 52 hours a week, from Ist November to 30th April, and 54 a week from ,i Ist May to 31st October. Hours of work for extra drivers between the dates first named are- to bo 48. *■ i The more important provisions regarding wages arc us 'follow:—Driving and attending one horse, £3 15s a week; driving and attending two horses, £3 17s 6d n week; driving and attending to motor-vehicles (scwt to one ton), £3 18s a week ; driving and attending to motorvehicles (1 to 2 tons), £4 os.6d a week; driving and attending to motor-vehicles (2 to 3 tons), £4 3s a week; driving and attending to motor-vehicles (over 3 tons), £4 6s 5d a, week. The above rates are to be increased by 10s a week, as bonus. Stable work and garage worli, in excess of the hours of work, up to 4 hours a week in the case of horse drivers, and eight hours for 2-horse drivers, shall be paid for at Is 7d an hour; attendance on niotor-vehicles,jUp to 4 hours a week, to be paid for at Is 8d an hour. Excess of' these hours is ;to be paid for at overtime rates. Youths -may be employed in stables at the rate of Is 3d an hour, and the award provides for the employment of a stable-cleaner and food-mixer. Casual drivers are to be paid Is lid an hour (one horse), and 2s ld an hour (two (horses). Overtime is fixed for casuals at 3s an hour, after 9| hours, and after 12.30 .p.m. on the weekly half-holiday. Casual motor-drivers are to bo paid 2s ld an hour (Scwt to 2-ton vehicles), and 2s 3d an hour (vehicles over 2 tons), and overtime at the rate of 03 3d an hour, as in the case of team drivers. Casual motor drivers aro to be paid 4s *n hour overtime on Sunday, Christinas Day, and Good Friday. Wages for youths arc fixed as follow: —18 to 19 years of age, £2 a week; 19, to 20, £2 6s a-week;'2o to 21 years, £2, 14s a week. The award is to operate as from 17th March, 1921, and will remain in force": for one year. „
