VICE-REGAL. His Excellency the Governor-General, Admiral of the Fleet Viscount Jelliooe, arrived from Palmerston North by the New Plyiriouth express List niight, and has now resumed residence ,here.. Mr. C. M. Luke, accompanied by Mrs. Luke, will visit Tahiti shortly, and will be absent from Wellington for over two I ihonths.. ' ' The death of Mr. Claude Bantock, the comedian, is announced by a Press Association message from Melbourne. Mr. Bantock was a well-known and popular member of J. C. Williamson's musical comedy companies. He visited New Zealand first in 1902, with "The Kunaway'Girl" Company. His Rajah in "The Rajah of Bong" is well remembered. ; Professor J. Macmillan Brown and Miss Brown, accompanied by Dr. W. H. Symes, of Christchurch, are leaving Auckland to-morrow on a visit to Samoa and the Fiji Islands, where Professor Brown will resume his South Pacific researches. The party'will probably return to New Zealand in September. ! , " ' • >
