MERGING OF REGIMENTS
I Officers and ex-officers of tha 17th > (Rnahine): Regiment will assemble at a dinner at the Municipal Hall, Masterton, to-night, in commemoration of the presentation arid consecration of the colours and the merging of the regiment in the 3rd Battalion, Wellington Infantry RegiI merit. Lieutjenant-Colonel J. A. Cowles, commanding the regiment, will preside, and amongst those present will be MajorGeneral Sir B. W. Chaytor, Officer Commanding the New Zealand Defence Force's, the Hon. Sir Walter Buchanan, honorary colonel of the regiment, Colonel H. E. Hart, Colonel E. H. Saunders, and, Mr. G. R. Sykes, M.P. On Sunday morning at 10.15 the colours will be presented and consecrated in the Park, the Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., chaplain of the regiment, officiating. C Company and D Company (Carterton) and Nos. 82, 85, and 113 Companies, Senior Cadets, will be on parade to take part in the ceremony, after which the troop will proceed to St. Matthew's Church, where the colours will be handed over to be hung in the church.
