(IT miSIUFR.-FREBI MMCIATIMI.) ' ' OHRISTGHUROH, This Day
The urgent necessity for improved facilities on 'the Cttstchurch-Lyttelton. railway . line, was, strongly .. urged' on the Minister of. Railways by two large , and representative, deputations.. The speakers pointed, out that trade is handtoapped, 'shipping delayed,' and grain.transport held, up," because those in authority failed to realise the importance of. the line as a connecting link. The Minister's reply, was to the effect -that lack of money alone prevented the Government v going on with works of urgency. When' the time came it would probably be found that plans for improvement on the Hiley scheme \had been drawn up.
