LONDON SALES CLOSE FIRM.

The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from its London office under date 12th May:—

" The sales have closed firm for all kinds of wool. There is. an active demand by all branches of the trade. Current prices for wools of average condition are as follow : —Coarse crossbreds, 36 to 40's, 6d to 6^d per lb; medium crossbreds, 44 to 45' a, 7d to 7£d; fine crossbreds, 60's, lOd to lid; merinos, inferior. lOgd to' 11W; merinos, superior, 14d to 17d; half-bred; lod to 14d.'\
