THE SIDNEY SALES

UNDER B.A.W.R.A. CONDITION.

SYDNEY, 12th May.

There was much interest in to-day's wool sales held under "Bawi-a" reserve conditions. The sales started in ' the morning instead of the afternoon as formerly, three days' offerings being crowded into one. Over twelve thousand bales, mostly merino, were offered. The clearances surpassed expectations, very little being passed in.

The attendance was large, and competition strong. Japanese were specially active, buying largely of the best classes. French and Yorkshire buyers and local topmakers operated freely. Good to super merinos sold from par to 5 per cent, above last sale's mediums, and' skirtings 5 to 7£ per cent, higher. Crossbreds were also in better demand. Prices for greasy merino touched 28jd.
