Heavy expenses have been going on since the inception of the Company. Not only has this big outlay been overtaken, but reasonable prbfit is disclosed, which is ample proof that, given the necessary capital, the Company's operations cannot fail to be very lucrative to investors. The average habitue of the picture-show in New, Zealand looks back with deep regret on the days before the War, when All-British and Continental Films were greeted by the picture-loving public as the programme par excellence. But, unfortunately, war intervened. The timo has now arrived, however, when they once more enter the picture-show arena, and exhibitors and audiences the world • over-are hailing their unapproabhable productions with delight. -Newly organised, controlling huge capital, and with contracts/signed up with the world's leading authors and stage "stars," these companies have assimilated all the progress, "and '), new ideas, which have attached themselves to the film producers' art during and since the Avar period. New Zealand is now to have the opportunity of adding hor quota of praise to that of tho rest of the world, and it was ■ with this object in. view that THE BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL FEATURE FILM CO., LTD.;. was promoted somo seven months ago. ■ < In the short space of two months the Company's business has outgrown its capital, so great has been the demand .for All-British and Continental Films. It* is with this knowledge we confidently invite the public to subscribe to th«t proposed now Company. Tho Company has tho New. Zealand' rights for all tho leading and most suo> i cessful reorganised All-British and Continental Film Producing Companies. The objects of the new Company are to only supply tho pick of, the output* of the companies under contract, and the Films handled by tho Company will b* the same as are screened simultaneouslyin the leading theatres of Australia. Wo are not asking you to subscribe to a proposition that is in tha air. We are asking you to support a sound business proposition that is actively working , on a sound basis—a proposition for tho promotion of All-British and Continental Films. British Films aro wanted everywhere; we can supply the demand, and it I is with the object of extending our operations that we aro forming a larger company. Therefore it 'is-with more than a usual degree of assurance that we ask you to peruse this Prospectus, and decide for yourselves the financial benefits you will reap by securing shares in such a splendid and solid proposition. The following is a copy of a letter which recently appeared in the N.Z. Herald in connection with the Company's production in A«ck'a»d of "Darby and Joan," an ''All-British" Film:— Sir,^-Some of us have said very hard things about certain of the pictures shown in Auckland. I would like to burn some I have scon and 6end the cxhibi-' tors of them to gaol. In some there was no immorality, perhaps, but they were bad in so far as they were not true to life and so very ugly. But some pictures • arc really good, and "DARBY AND JOAN" is one of them. I had the pleasure of seeing it yesterday in His Majesty's Theatre, and I hope that all who can will view it. A good picture is a rest and real recreation for tired people. "DARBY AND JOAN" is good in every way, both for old and !young. It is beautiful as a picture ajid perfect as a performance by the actors. Many people are afraid to go to the pictures because they do not know what misery; and murder they may sec. This picture is entirely good; and we who want the pictures' improved should be present and onoourage thosa picture managers who show what is good. <, Tha singing also of "Darby and Joan," by Irma Caron, was a groat treat. (Signed) JOHN HASELDEN* St. Luke's Vicarage, Mount Albert. This letter is typical of many which the vendor Company hits-received, tlw i priguuls of which j*a be yiaged.at tije. Registered.! Office, '
