RAID, REPRISALS, AND MURDER
LONDON, 28th AprilIn a big raid on stables in Pembrokestreet, Dublin, many rifles and revolvers were seized, also 13,000 rounds of revolver ammunition, 14,700 shotgun cartridges, eighteen boxes of explosives, and much other material. As official reprisals for Sir Arthur Vicars's murder, four business houses were destroyed at Listowel.
[Sir Arthur Vicars's body was found a few days ago lying'across the footpath thirty yards from his house, with the head practically blown away. The murderers numbered thirty, and were said to be strangers, to the district. They were armed with revolvers, shotguns, and bombs. After th&'crhne the inmates of -Kilmoma House were given ten minutes to leave, and the house was set on fire, bombs being placed inside to prevent an attempt to save it.]
