"MOZART"

MR, BOBERT PARKER'S LECTURE-

j CONCERT.

Mr. Robert Parker gave his second lecture-concert last evening at the Art Gallery, before a crowded audience. The subject was "Mozarty" and the lecturer devoted forty-five minutes to a sketch of the great musician's life history, with extracts from his published letters, and intimate: details of his social lifo, the whole throwing a most interesting light on the social conditions of his time, which appear so strange to us. The audience was very appreciative, and would gladly have list ened for a longer time.

Musical illustrations from , Mozart's operas, pianoforte works, and instrumental music were given by a party of able performers. Miss Ava Symons played an Andante from Sonata in B flat, and the Concerto in A Major (violin). Mrs. Hector played Fantasia in C Minor, and the piano part of the Concerto. Miss Driscoll gave songs from "Figaro," and a duet with Mr. Rishworth, who also sang illustrations from "Don Giovanni." Mr. Gordon Kirk sang an air from "The Magic Flute," and Mr. C. A. Williams an Air from "Don Giovanni." In addition, a quartette for piano and stringed instruments was played by Miss Hawke, and Messrs. Grady, Lomas, and Logan. Altogether it vvns a delightful evening's entertainment, of great educational value to tho young musician, full of-interest and pleasantly lightened 'with, humour by an ablo lecturer. .
