TIMBER WORKERS' UNION
At the annual meating of the Wellington Timber Yards and Sawmills Union, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr. A. 6. Wilkinson; vice-presidents, Messrs. T. J. Clarke and James Warren; secretary, Mr. J. Read; treasurer, Air. A. L. Brede; executive committee, Messrs. A. Bu'ckJand, W. Furnessj Alec. Johnston, George Power; trustees, Messrs. J. M. Ramsey and T. J. Clarke.
The Wellington Timber Yards and Sawmills' Union decided at its annual meeting to assist the fond in aid of the widow and family of the late Mr. W. H. Boyes, drowned while attempting to save life in the Hutt River. Subscription lists were issued through the medium of shop stewards in the city mills,; and already the sum of £8 has been raised through subscription by members, with more expected.
Tho annual election of directors to the principal board of the A M.P. Society will tako place in Sydney after the annual meeting on IStli April. Thoro are two retiring directors —the Hon. Sir Alfred Meeliß and the Hon. J. T. Walker — who havo both been on the board for many years, filling tho position of chairman and deputy-chairman respectively. They havo an advertisement in to-day's issue, and ask for the support and voteß of the policy-holders. Voting papers may be obtained upon application at the district office of tho society.
Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will sell corrugated iron nnd barbed wire in their rooms at 10.30 a.m. to-morrow, and at 1.30 p.m. furniture.
