UPPER HUTT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
A very successful social evening -was spent in the Oddfello.ws' Hall, Upper Hutt, the occasion being to bid farewell to t the Home Missionary (Mr. A. M. Climie) and Mrs. Cliirde, who v are leaving ■the district, Mr. Climie having been appointed assistant to the Rev. Thomas Miler, M.A., Feilding. The company numbered not far short of 100 people, a fact which bore eloquent testimony to the esteem in which Mr. and Mils. OKmie are held. The Rev. J. A, M'Kenzie, Petone, Moderator of the Charge, presided, and was supported by the Vicar of Trentham, Eev. Neville Barnett, and Mts. Barnett, the Rev. James M'Caw, Lower Hutt, Chaplain-Captain Hardie, Trentham Camp, and Messrs. Baker and Dempsey, Lower Hutt. Hearty appreciations of Mr. Cliniie's excellent-work were expressed by the Chairman and Rev. Mr. Barnett, Mr. M'Caw, and Captain Hardie. The oongregation gave expression to their feelings and regret at the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Climie. Mr. H. R. Gibbs and Mr. George Taylor spoke on behalf of the Session and board of managers respectively, Mr. Gibbs presenting Mr. Climie -with a tangible token of the good wishes of the ■congregation and friends. Music and games were interspersed, and supper ■was provided by the ladies. The girls and boys of-the Sabbath School, of which Mrs. Climia had been a teacher, met at the cliurcli grounds arid spent a very happy afternoqn. Towards the close they met jn the church, the .superintendent of the school presiding. After open--ing exercise,?, two of the girls, Misses Anderson and O'Brien, each presented Mrs. Climie with a gift from the girk and boys.
