MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., dealt with police cases at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Olaf Strom was remanded till Bth March upon a charge of stealing a pair of boots, valued at 255, the property of, Guy Cockburn. . William Pollock Fraser and- Stuart Frasar, father and son, were charged with drunkenness and resisting Constable Ruston, .but after hearing the evidence the Magistrate dismissed tho eiuVgos against tho father, and fined tho son 5s on the first charge and 40s on the second. Fr&ser, sen., had unwisely interfered with the constable while tha latter was arresting the son, but the Magistrate held that the oase was not serious enough to warrant a conviction.,, . ■

The youth, Alonzo Albert Hewison, who was called before the Court yesterday on charges of having worn a naval uniform and decorations without colour of right, was sharply reprimanded for his folly, and was advised to go back to the country without delay, and "to cut off that braid and the brass buttons, and do some honest work." If Howison fails to comply with the terms laid down by the probation officer during the next twelve months, he will be brought up again for sentence.

Charles S. Woodward, charged with the theft ot, a magneto, valued at £5, the property of M'Lellau and Co., contractors, in September, 1919, was remanded for one week, bail being fixed at £25, with Eimilar sureties.
