MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday. Thomas - Mylett, a second-offending inebriate, was fined 10s, ■ and Hugh Kerragan and John R. S. Culbertsen (each five previops convictions), Peter Mulcahy and John Hyde (each two previous convictions), were ordered to pay fines of £1 or to go to gaol for threo days. Joseph Roberts waa convicted on a charge of helpless drunkenness, and was ordered to pay 17s 6d medical expenses or to go to gaol for a week.
Patrick Leonard Johnston Foster was fined 5s for drunkenness and 10s for breaking his prohibition order.
Thomas Glen, a seaman on the steamer Viking Star, was convicted a second time of having absented himself from his ship without leave, and was ordered to forfeit two days' pay, and will be kept in custody until the vessel sails.
John Romney Gibbons, who vras arr-ested late last night on. a charge of having broken into a dwelling at Island Bay and stolen articles valued at 20s, was remanded till Friday.
