DIPLOMA OF COMMERCE
PROPOSAL FAVOURABLY
RECEIVED.
A scheme for the establishment of a diploma of commerce was submitted by a Dune-din committee yesterday afternoon to a meeting of representatives of the Bankers, Insurance add Shippings Offiera' Guilds, and of the Now Zealand Society of Accountants. Tho Dunedin committee represented tho Otago University, Society of Accountants, Chamber of Commerce, and Manufacturers' Association, Mr. T. R. SommerviUe, President of tho Otago Chamber of Commerce, presided, and Mr. Walter Green, President of tho New Zealand Society of Accountants, ex« plained the scheme, which, when completed; will provide for the issue of a diploma,l of commerce by the University of New Zealand. The suggested groups are: — (1) Industry; (2) Banking and Finance; (3) Shipping and Transport; (4) Insuranoe; and (5) Political and Social Soience. The proposaU were most favourably reiceivod, Guild representatives undertaking to get into touch with employersand asking them to co-operate in fartherinff the proposals, which, in due ooureej will be plaoed before the University Senate..
