Recent appointments in the Public Trust Department include' that of Mr. F. Menneer, district accountant, Hawera, to, be assistant chief accountant, Wellington. Mr. W. 6- Hand-Newton, who is already in the Wellington office, has been promoted to the position of assistant solicitor, Wellington. Mr. P. R. Winchcomb, of Auckland, becomes deputy trustee at Palmerston North, and Mr. I). L. M'Kay, of Christchurch, second assistant deputy trustee at Auckland".

Another person said he was a foreman baker, and if lio was coiled, on to serve he wouldl have to atovt work at 2 a.m. He was excused.
