AUSTRALIAN BUREAUX

LABOUR'S CONCERTED POLICY.

SYDNEY, 13th October. The secretary of the Labour Council, in an official statement regarding the j maritime dispute-, says: "The workers have no intention of starving themselves. I They had enough of that during the 1917 strike. The present dispute will no* take the form of a general strike, but all the unions in the Transport Workers' Federation will act on a concerted policy. This move is only one of many. If the shipowners want industrial peace, they can have it in five minutes by the abolition of the Labour bureaux." (Received October 14, 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The shipowners are contemplating the establishment of Labour bureaux at Newcastle and Brisbane with the object of fighting harassing strikes. It is hoped to enroll the moderate element among the transport workers, to whom preference will be guaranteed.
