For the second day of the Caulfield Spring Meeting the .weather . was fine and bright. There was a good attendance and the going was fair.
Salatiß, top weight, made most of the running in the Mona- Nursery and won well. The winner was ridden by a nativo of Auckland, Ralph Home. Salatis is owned by his breeder, Mr- J. Mills. The Oup candidate Tangalooma finished in great style in the Power States and just won. Specialty was last. Tangalooma is trained by Holt. Ulster Boy Jed all the way in the Coongy Handicap. He is not engaged in the Cup. Results: —
Mona Nursei-y, four furlong©.—Sajatis, 8.13, 1; Stare, 8.0, 2; Sonora, 7.9, 3. There wore,twenty starters. Salatis led over the last throe furlongs and won easily by three lengths. Sonora was half a length away third. Time, 57sec. Herbert Power Stakes, one mile and throe furlongs.—Tangalooma-, 8.11 (F. Dempsey), 1; Drum'ore, 8.8, 2; Double Bezique, 7.7, 3. There were seven starters. Gxingalet was in front for a mile, and Drumore was first into the straight. Tangalooma, who was fourth in the early stages, came fast and won by a short half-head. Time, 2miri 23£ sec. Coongy Handicap, one mile and three furlongs.—Ulster Boy, 6.12, 1; Paratoo, 7.3, 2; Alilat, 7.9, 3. Won by threequarters of a length, with, a neck between second and third. Time 2min 22 3-4 sec.
