COLOMBO, 11th October.

The English Cricket Team has arrived fit and well. It played a one-day match against a strong Ceylon team. Ceylon made 122. Waddington 'took two wickets for seven runs, and retired with a damaged finger; Woolley took three for 28; Wilson, 'two for 22; Rhodes, two for 16. England lost nine wickets for 105. Hendren (18) and Rhodes (42) were the chief scorers. The match was drawn. The visitors were handicapped by the severe heat.
