HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED
REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 9th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: —
"Meat.—English in moderate supply at following average prices: —Beef, Is 4d ; mutton, Is lOd; lamb, 2s. Good demand for New Zealand mutton and lamb at maximum price. "Butter.—Average price English.;. i 3 £23. Extremely small supply of Irish; quotation* range up to £24 10* "Cheese.—Demand for English continues restricted, but price tends dea-rer owing to smaller stocks, up to £9 7s. Canadian position and price unchanged "Hemp.—Manila market quiet and prices slightly weaker. Present quotations are "J" grade, July-September to October-December shipment* £68 10s. Output Ist January to 30th September 846,000 bales against 802,000 same period last year. Stocks in Manila 30th September 293,000 against 435,000. Now Zealand market idle early this week, but at the close spot quotations steady, distknt were firm»r. Highpoints OctoberDecember shipment sold £54 10s; fair October-December shipment £52; September shipment £52 10s."
