BOMBS USED IN CORK
LONDON, 9th October.
A party of uniformed men threw incendiary bombs into the Cork City Hall. The fire brigade succeeded in confining the fire which broke out to the Public Health Office. It is believed that the outrage was a reprisal for the. murder of a soldier.
A military lorry conveying stores to Port Elizabeth was passing through a crowded street in Cork, when a, number of bombs were thrown and shots were fired. One bomb exploded on the lorry and" another beside it. One soldier was killed and four others were dangerously wounded. Four civilians, including a prl, were wounded and were sent to I'ospital. Two soldiers on the lorry who were uninjured opened fire on their £ backers, who suffered one casualty, though all evaded capture.
