BOWLING

OPENING OF THE SEASON.

The Wellington Bowling Club, the senior club of the city, will open its season to-morrow afternoon. Contrary to usual practice, the ceremony will not take place until 3 p.m. During the recess a very large sum of money ha 6 been expended on the club's property. The capacious clubhouse has been repainted and decorated throughout,; asphalt paths have been relaid, and the work of forming the new entrance to the grounds and erecting the Peace Memorial Gates has been completed, and make a handsome improvement to the club's property. The Memorial Gates, it is understood, will not be officially opened until later in the season. Other clubs opening to-morrow at 2.15 are Thorndon, jNfe/.vtown, Kelburn, Hataitai, Lower Hfitt, Island Bay, and Lyall Bay.
