DEMONSTRATION CONCERT

TO-NIGHT

YESTERDAY'S RESULTS,

The actual Competitions at the*'. Grand Opera House have almost finished, and tonight, Friday night, and Saturday afternoon and evening there will be demonstration concerts at which th% winners of the various sections will be heard and seen. To-night's programme; which is published in detail in this issue, should be an exceptionally fine one, for it is evident that it has been arranged with great cars'in order to give some idea of the scope of the Competitions. On Saturday afternoon there will be a special children's demonstration. There was another large attendance at the Grand Opera House last night, when several interesting sections were decided. The Begg Scholarship, awarded to the winner for the section, girl's song_, 16 and under 21, 'went to Miss Marjorie Clark. The award was given on the aggregate points for the test piece and own selection, and ( the judge remarked that both Miss Clark and Miss Knight had" promising voices. The winner possessed a fine voice with good metal and tone, and was to be complimented on her consistent work throughout the Competitions. A special sate of drapery, watches, etc. will bo held at The Dux Mart to-morrow

Messrs. Dunbar Sloano and Jones sold by auction at their rooms yesterday, on behalf of the Public Trustee, the remaining bungalow situated at Johnsonville in the estate of the late John Rod. Bidding was very brisk, and the property was disposed of for £1450.
