ANNUAL MEETING.
1 The annual general meeting of the Institute of Accountants was held on 'Wednesday at the Accountants' Hall. Johnston-street. Mr. James Monson, 'of Christchurch, the vice-president, occupied tho chair in the absence of tho president (Mr. H. D. Vickery). The following were^ elected members of council:—Messrs. S..G. Chambers (Auckland) D. R. Menzies (Wellington), J. Monson (Christchurch), James Brown (Dunedin), and W. M'Culloch (Napier). Mr. C. P Powlca resigned his office as treasurer, and Mr. D. R. Menzies' wa» elected in his stead Mr G A. Duncan was elected as auditor. Tho annual report stated that ■ during tho year 15 new associates had been admitted to the membership of tho Institute" by virtue of their having passed. tbe examination conducted by the New Zealand University on behalf of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.' The .number of members on the register at tho end of the year was'39s (the reoord), and consisted of 219 follows and 176 associates. The annual statement of accounts showed that at tho end of the financial year tho Institute • had £350 invested on first mortgage of freehold property, £300 on fixed deposit, and, £235 in war certificates. The excess of income over expendidure for the year was £171 8s 9d. and tho accumulated funds now 6tood at £1134 13s. The outstanding subscriptions amounted to £3 13s 6d. A grant of. £100 was voted as a subsidy to the University Colleges grant made by the Society of Accountants, and £40 was voted "for distribution among the various Accountant Students' Societies and kindred associations in. the Dominion." At the council meetings held the same day, Mr. J. Morison (Christchurch) was elected president for the coming year, and Mr. J. L. Arcus yice-prosident. ■ The following' were admitted Associates of tho Institute:—W. R. P. Baigent, P. Cutforth, G. W. Clinkard, S. J. Collins, H. W. H. Ingram, T. •W. Maben, F. J. M'Comisky, A. J. M'Lennan, F. C. Perry, G. Winter. Mr. R. S. Green, was admitted subject to his being elected a member ■of the Now Zealand Society'of Account- . ants. , 1 Messrs. A. E. Bollard, G. A. Duncan, and A.' _D; Park were promoted to the Fellowship.
