WEST COAST TIMBER AREA

GREYMOUTH, 26th July

A meeting of the executive of the West Coast Timber Workers' Union passed a resolution denying the accuracy of statements in a recent Hokitika Press message regarding the flotation of the Okarito Great Western Timber Company. The resolution went on to declare "that the secretary of this union had its full support in his representations to the Minister of Forestry, and that no member of our executive made any statement to the contrary as alleged; also that this union pledges itself to see the the timber area in question is not exploited by any section of capitalists to the detriment of the people of New Zealand, but that it shall be used for the benefit of the whole community,, to whom it rightly belongs."
