FRANCO-BRITISH AGREEMENT
INTERESTS IN OLD-WORLD
FIELDS

A Franco-British; agreement,) in respect to, th« development of oil-fields, provides that in Rumania the two Governments will support tiheir respective nationals, with a view to the acquisition of the former German oil interests and other concessions, all shares in the former being half French and half British. In Russia the two Governments will support their respective nationals in acquiring concessions. In Mesopotamia France is to receive 25 per cent, of the Government output at the market rates, or 25 per cent, of the shares in private companies. The agreement also provides for the, construction of pipe-lines and railways for the transportation of oii through the French sphere to the Mediterranean. In North Africa and other French colonies France is to give, facilities to Franco-British groups, Britain giving corresponding advantages in the British Crown colonies.
