Chatting with a Post reporter', this morning, Mr. Gordon Boundy, of the Motueka -Star, mentioned the interesting fact that of a total export shipment from the Dominion of 34.585 cases of fruit, no less than 18.644 ceffes were shipped from Port Motueka. In prewar times, when shipping facilities were normal, 1 Motneka. exported 78 per cent, of the. fruit' zenfc overseas. With the expansion of the fruit industry and the dtevelapmieKb cf the mineral lesources, notably the opening up of Parapara, it is' safe to predict that in the very near future both the-Motueka and Golden Bay districts will be carrying double the present population.
The. pontoon of affairs in connection with the supply cf coal for the Palmevston North gasworks is still-very acute. Last week fifty tons of coal had to be obtained on loan from the Bailway Dispartmeat to enable the gasworks to carry on.
