RETURNED SOLDIERS
REMITS FOR THE CONFERENCE. (HI TILEORAra.— PRESS ASEnCIATIOK.) AUCKLAND, 2.5 th May. The Auckland branch of the Returned Soldiers' ■ Association carried a number of remits to-night for submission to the annual conference. The iriostinterestim*; of theso was one urging that the attention of the Government be drawr to the Urge influx of Hindus and Chinese, that it be requested to introduce legislation during the coming session to restrict .:-»cli immigration, and that all associations throughout) New Zealand be requested to convene public meetings in their districts prior to the meeting of ' Parliament to protest' against the unrestricted influx of Hindus aijd Chinese. Other remits advocated increased allowances to subsidised workers to bring their wages to at least £3 10s for single and £4 for married men, and increased pensions. Another remit expressed indignation and .alarm at the 'temporary stoppage of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act.
