MEETING OF T>"S COUNCIL. The Miramar Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor (Mr. S. IVJ. Stone), presiding. There were also pi'esent : Councillors H. H. Robertshaw, S. Collie, B. L. Gardiner, J. Hicks, F. J. Burnett, and Mrs. A. M'Vicar. ■ The Education Board wrote asking the council to reconsider its decision in regard to the rental of the Town Hall for school purposes. The council decided to abide by its original decision to maintain the increased rental. A letter from the Hawera Borough Council asking the support of the council, as of-other local bodies, in an application ti> have the duty on children's footwear removed, in order to reduce the cost of living to families, was received.
